The CORE Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a meaningful impact in our community. We focus on two core areas: Taking care of our unsheltered neighbors and providing essential support to students in need. Our mission is to create a brighter and more equitable future for all.

Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors and contribute their expertise and passion to our organization. Board members play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction, ensuring financial sustainability, and advancing our mission of creating positive change.

The CORE Foundation board is responsible for overseeing the mission and purpose of the organization. Its duties include participation in strategic planning, making policy decisions, and making connections within their respective networks to help advance CORE’s priority initiatives. Board members must be willing to attend all required meetings, follow through on commitments, and participate fully in the decision-making process. The board also presents the organization’s image to the community and engages its support in achieving its goals.

Potential board members must be residents of Maryland, District of Columbia, or Virginia

• Members serve two-year terms.
• Elected Officers serve a one-year terms, which consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer

General Responsibilities

• Review revenues and expenses on a quarterly basis to ensure the mission of the organization is being upheld.
• Serve under one of the following categories
• • Development - Fundraising & Grants
  • Financial Management – Treasurer
  • Community Partnership
  • Communication - Social Media & Marketing
  • Event Planning
  • Programing

Ambassadorship

• Promote CORE’s mission, generating good will for the organization, and encouraging support for the efforts of the staff and volunteers.
• Make introductions to new communities, corporate sponsors, foundations, and helpful individuals.

Specific Responsibilities

• Attendance and Contribution at meetings- Board Members are required to attend the annual BOD meeting. They are also required to attend and be active in a minimum of three out of the four quarterly meetings each year (in person).
• Dedicate time per month to participate in our programs and activities.
• Leverage your skills and expertise to drive impact.

Qualifications

• Passion for helping the homeless & students in need and a commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit organizations or community initiatives.
• Strong communication, fundraising, networking, and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to give time and talent to support the growth of our organization.
• Willingness to actively engage in our programs and activities.
• Experience in fundraising or donor relations is highly desirable.
• Previous board experience is a plus but not required.
